At the age of 12 years and 7 months, Sergey Karjakin entered the history of world chess as the youngest grandmaster. The Russian, who won the gold medal at the 2012 World Rapid Chess Championship, won the World Championship three years later. In March 2016, Sergei Karjakin won the tender tournament and got  the right to compete for the chess crown. The grandmaster who distinguished himself at the World Blitz Championship that year, is a three-time winner of the World Chess Olympiad.
