Teimour Radjabov: “Nobody gained the dominance”

Games of the fourth round of “Shamkir Chess 2019”  Super-tournament in the memory of Vugar Hashimov are being held. In the current round, the Azerbaijani chess player, Teimour Radjabov played a draw with Anish Giri, the representative of the Netherlands.

Teimour Radjabov stated in the press conference that the result is quite fair: “We did not see any distinct moves in the game. There was an equal competition. Nobody could gain the dominance. Although we changed pieces many times, the situation was still same. I believe that, the risk is usually less in this kind of strong tournament. In this sense, the draw was inevitable”.

The Netherlandian representative, Anish Giri ratified his opponent`s opinion. He thinks that, although he was playing with white pieces, attacking was difficult to him: “Actually, in this kind of games, I am able to intercept the way of black pieces. However, I faced hardship while I was trying to attack. Teimour did not make any mistake. I think that, our moves would already be repetitive. Therefore, the draw is a normal result. Each chess player wants to win, simply it is always hard to get what you want.
