Shahriyar Mammadyarov: "The game should not end up with this result"
Losing to the former World Champion Vishwanatan Anand, Shahriyar Mammadyarov talked about his loss in the third round of "Shamkir Chess 2019" in the memory of Vugar Hashimov.. Stating the he started to the game very well, Shahriyar Mammadyarov admitted that he made a mistake: "I believe that I had more dominance over the opponent. Although, I was close to the victory, I gave the chance to my opponent by making a mistake within the 3-4 moves. I think that I played well. Simply, the game should not end up with this result. The main problem was shortage of time. I had to decide quickly. I was positive that the result of the game would be draw. The loss was not obvious. the position was close to draw. I was not lucky, simply. As a professional chess player, talking about luck would not be appropriate, however, I cannot find any reason. Although I am disappointed, I have only one day to pull myself together. I should think about the upcoming rounds".
The former World Champion, Vishwanatan Anand noted that it was not an interesting game. He thinks that he had wrong moves in the opening of the game: "It was not an interesting game. I had many mistakes in debut. I was not able to gain the dominance. I would say, I played not interesting but reasonable. there were chances to play various versions. I would lose the game very easily. I had to be very careful. The opponent started well, however, could not go on. Winning the game makes me happy. Each game is very crucial in this kind of strong competition. After the loss of last round, coming back myself was very essential. In my view, the competition is still ahead".
