The sixth round of the ShamkirChess 2018 Super Tournament in the memory of Vugar Hashimov is going to end. The Press Service of the Tournament reports that, the Azerbaijani representative Shahriyar Mammadyarov played a draw with the Chinese representative Ding Liren in the sixth round.

Fighting with black pieces, Shahriyar Mammadyarov answered the questions of journalists at the press conference after the game: “I have not forgotten the game in Berlin. Simply, now it is a different situation. I was playing with white pieces when I was defeated by Liren at the Candidates Tournament. I was only thinking about victory in Berlin. Now, I was playing with black pieces, therefore, the draw is a normal result. I chose a new debut option, yet I could not get the precedence. My opponent was playing very carefully. I would say, therefore, there were not any mistake. Meanwhile, I will prepare seriously for the upcoming rounds. Because, I think that there would be more changes on the Tournament Table”.

Talking about the free day, Mammadyarov told about the staff of the “World Team” which won the football tournament in the final match: “Football was full of memorable moments. In the first match we beat the team formed by the organizers with 8-0 score. Afterwards, in the final match, we played against the “World Team”. Certainly, the tiredness was inevitable. If we played against the foreigners in the first match, we would win the game without a doubt. We had not got stamina for the final. At the same time, there were many middle-aged players. In the final match, we lost the game with 1-2 score. I would specially note the games of Ding Liren, Denis Hismatulin and certainly, Magnus Carlsen in the opponent team. Magnus plays well football, besides the chess”.
